Renee Paquette Explains Why She Joined All Elite Wrestling

Renee Paquette explains why she is finally All Elite.

Thursday’s episode of The Sessions podcast saw Renee Paquette go into detail about why she ended up signing with All Elite Wrestling. Renee opened by talking about how closely guarded her career move was, noting how she’d only told a close circle of people about it.

“Yeah, it’s out there and I’m so excited! I’m so excited to be back in the world of professional wrestling. And not that — it does feel like I left in the sense of being at the shows, working at the shows, being around the ring, shooting the shit with everybody, seeing what the creative looks like, all that stuff. I love that aspect,” Paquette explained, “it just feels so cool to be back in this world.

“I do miss it, I have missed it. For me to — obviously we watch so much wrestling in this house, we talk about so much wrestling in this house — and it was always an odd, displaced sort of feeling any time I went to shows with Jon, because I’m used to [being there as an employee].”

Paquette said it’s a different feeling between being a guest and being part of the team in an official capacity, then went into detail about what actually made her come back to wrestling.

“I think for me, it’s like — it’s a really funny moment where over the past two years, I planted a lot of seeds. While you’re planting those seeds, you’re watering them, they’re growing, is the thing doing what I wanted? Did I overwater something, something dried out, blah, blah, blah… all those things that now I really feel like I’m at a point where there’s sprouting and things are really coming out of the ground,” Paquette said.

“I think that’s a reminder to myself, anybody listening to this that when I left WWE it wasn’t that instant, [feeling of success with projects]. I didn’t really have any announcements, I was doing my own thing and grinding away, but I wasn’t joining Good Morning America or something like that. I was home, I just had a baby, that was a whole ordeal,” Paquette explained. “You figure out being a mom for the first time while trying to carve your own path and figure that stuff out.”

Paquette explained that she went through some periods of self-doubt and ups and downs, but she ended up adjusting and missing the production aspect of a live wrestling show.

“It’s missing being around professional wrestling, it’s missing that TV aspect of doing things. I love that I get to work from home, I love that I can pop upstairs, turn on the microphone and camera, do the podcast. I was doing [NHL Network content] here, I lived a really great life of being able to work from home while we were all stuck in COVID and that’s just how everyone was adjusting. [Now, I went from that to] I miss the crowds, I miss the outfits and the aspect of putting on an actual show. I’m ready to get out of my f-cking sweatpants is what I’m saying.”
