Maki Itoh Would Not Accept A Contract Offer From WWE If She Got One

Maki Itoh is happy with her relationship with AEW.

Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewsCo, Maki Itoh was asked if she’s had any contact with WWE. Itoh, who has made sporadic appearances on AEW TV, said that she has not spoken with WWE and wouldn’t take an offer even if she got one.

“No, no, nothing. The reason she became this popular is thanks to AEW,” Itoh said via her translator. “So whatever happens, even if WWE gave her a cheeky offer from nowhere, she would not accept it, and she would just stay right beside AEW all the way.”

Maki Itoh then shared some of her goals and said she wants to be a champion in Japan and hopes to return to AEW TV.

“So for her [goal] for 2023 in Japan, she wants to her a title belt, obviously,” Itoh said via her translator. “She feels like maybe a tag team title belt would be really nice just shout now. For America, obviously she wants to go back to being on AEW television again. As you know, there’s only so much time you have available on American TV, and you can’t really leave much of an impact due to how much time you get to be on TV. So she definitely wants to leave a big enough impact so that everybody will remember the name of Maki Itoh.”

Maki Itoh last appeared in AEW on the November 28 episode of AEW Dark: Elevation where she teamed with Emi Sakura in a loss to Marina Shafir & Nyla Rose. This was also her last appearance in the United States, which was part of a three-date tour that included appearances at GCW Aura in Rhode Island and JCW Series Of Survivals 2022.
