Josh Alexander Is Embracing Full Metal Mayhem, Sees Himself As A ‘Swiss Army Knife’ Of Wrestling

Josh Alexander is champing at the bit waiting for Hard To Kill.

During a recent interview with WrestleZone, Josh Alexander spoke about defending his title against Bully Ray at Hard To Kill. Alexander walks into a Full Metal Mayhem match against Bully, who embodies the spirit of ECW. Alexander said that he’s not exactly studying Bully’s old work, but he has taken inspiration from other eras of TNA Wrestling.

“I think the one thing that I’m known for is just being the wrestler’s wrestler bell to bell — no gimmicks needed or anything like that. I’m embracing this Full Metal Mayhem match because I get to show the world a different side of me, something that I’ve never really experienced,” Alexander explained. “I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to just knock it out of the park with a different facet, showing people different things. I’m going to do everything I can to make sure this match is memorable, special, and something that really catches everybody by surprise.”

Asked what he wants fans to take away from the match at Hard To Kill, Alexander said he wants to show everyone that he’s a lot more well-rounded than some might give him credit for.

“I think that especially now in pro wrestling, everybody has their team that they want to play for, whether they’re AEW fans, IMPACT fans or whatever. They do the same thing with wrestlers, they paint wrestlers into boxes all the time. So they want to say, I’m just a technical wrestler, that’s what I’m good at and that’s it. The one thing I’m embracing at Hard To Kill is to go out there and show everybody that I can do a little bit of everything, and I can do it all very well. I’m really looking forward to doing something memorable that people will really take notice and put me on the map as being one of those guys that is more like a Swiss Army knife in pro wrestling,” Alexander added, “because I think whether you’re familiar with me or not, I’ve been able to adapt to every single style of pro wrestling so far. So, I’m really chomping at the bit for this Hard to Kill match to show everybody a different side of me, one that maybe I haven’t even seen before.”

Hard To Kill takes place on Friday the 13th, and the event is being promoted with a slasher movie theme. One of the ads was a motion graphic featuring Alexander facing off his enemy, and he said it tells an appropriate story.

“I think that graphic tells the story of what’s going on right now. It’s me traveling down this road that looks horrific and I have this insurmountable mountain of a man in front of me, like this two-time Hall of Famer, former two-time IMPACT Champions, stuff like that, is standing in my way. And we’re going to see if I have to get through them.”

Josh Alexander defends his IMPACT World Championship against Bully Ray at IMPACT Wrestling’s Hard To Kill pay-per-view on Friday, January 13. Check out our full video interview with Josh at the top of this post.
