Report: John Cena Filmed Additional Segment For WWE

John Cena returned to WWE TV in December, and he reportedly filmed a segment that fans haven’t seen yet.

The 16-time world champion appeared in a taped video on the December 16 episode of WWE SmackDown to announce that he’d be teaming up with Kevin Owens to face Roman Reigns and Sami Zayn on the December 30 show in Tampa. There, Cena and Owens won the high-profile tag team bout. Since then, many fans have been buzzing about the company’s potential plans for Cena, as the road to WrestleMania is underway.

According to Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select, WWE “at least planned” to film something with Cena and Austin Theory, the reigning United States Champion, while Cena was in town for SmackDown. Theory had been scheduled to compete at the Toronto live event the same night as Cena’s return match, but he was pulled from the show in order to travel to Tampa. It’s unclear whether the segment was for digital, 2K, or another usage, but Sapp wrote that it was filmed.

Sapp also confirmed WrestlingNews.co‘s previous report that, as of November, there were “loose plans” for a match between Cena and Logan Paul at WrestleMania, but it’s unclear where those plans stand now.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
