Austin Aries Takes Credit For Making ‘Control Your Narrative’ The Third Worst Promotion Of The Year

Austin Aries comments on his latest achievement in the wrestling business.

F4WOnline.com recently announced this year’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter Awards, which feature categories for the best and worst in wrestling each year. EC3’s business partner / CYN Narrator, JC, commented on “Control Your Narrative” promotion being voted the third worst promotion of the year, writing the following on his Instagram account:

“I would like to thank the academy, my toy dogs, Bear Bear and Bella Boo, and most importantly the fans who make all this possible with their support,” JC wrote. “We only placed 3rd behind NWA and WWE, a sincere honor and motivator to continue to leave my #mark on this industry.”

Austin Aries then chimed in and took some of the credit himself, noting that CYN wasn’t even in the top ten until he came along:

“I’ll take some credit here,” Aries wrote. “CYN wasn’t even in the Top 10 of worst promotions until I came on board!”

Control Your Narrative came in third in the voting, trailing WWE (376 votes) and the National Wrestling Alliance (359 votes). Other promotions that received votes include AAA Mexico, GCW, CMLL and Pro Wrestling NOAH.

Austin Aries wrestled three matches for CYN before the company went on hiatus. EC3 is currently signed with the National Wrestling Alliance and he will challenge for the NWA National title at the company’s “312” pay-per-view in April.

EC3 previously spoke with WrestleZone about the Narrative’s future, sharing that he felt like it could live on somewhere else despite his own live tour being cancelled.

“Touring aspirations and live events, those are still on the table. Is CYN going to be the ‘promotion’ hosting these? Or is it what I really believe it is, that’s like a concept and an idea and almost a faction of people believe in the message and the idea becoming part of other things. As the tour was progressing,” EC3 noted, “my idea was to really make that a brand for other independents and high-level people and other talents to be able to be seen by the world if we had television behind it and it was televised. It’s just another platform for people to have their name out there, be recognized, be noticed.

“It was bold and ambitious. With Adam going back to the WWE, it wasn’t in the cards at the time. It can still play, but I do also think the idea of Control Your Narrative being a group and a faction, plus an idea that can find itself in any promotion,” he explained, “whether it’s televised, whether it’s independent, whether it’s international, and contributing a new, unique brand and interest and draw to those places, everybody can win.”
