Adam Cole Comments On His Return, Says He’ll Pay Attention To How His Body Is Feeling

Adam Cole shares his thoughts ahead of his return to the ring.

On the March 29 episode of AEW Dynamite, Cole will have his first match since June 2022, as he has been sidelined by two head injuries. He last wrestled at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022, and following a challenging road back, he’ll make his return in a singles match against Daniel Garcia on Wednesday.

Speaking with Rick Ucchino for Cageside Seats, Cole expressed his excitement ahead of his return to the ring. His time away will likely affect his approach, as he’s coming off of two substantial head injuries that left the future of his wrestling career up in the air. With this in mind, Cole made it clear that he will pay attention to how his body is feeling going forward.

“I think there certainly is a much better understanding I have now of listening to my body,” Cole said. “I think for years I would go through things and be like, oh man, I’m not feeling so hot, but hey, it’s part of the gig. This is what we do. It’s like learning to understand when you’re sore and when something isn’t right.

“So, I am definitely gonna have a better understanding of that. Do I still plan on going out and having the best possible matches that I can? Absolutely. But I am really gonna pay attention to how my body’s feeling.”

Cole also expressed his nervous excitement about his babyface run and noted that this shift is the source of some fear, as he has been a heel for most of his career. He stated that the change is scary, but he’s excited by it as well.

“Oh my God, absolutely. I think that’s where part of the fear comes from,” Cole said. “For over a decade, I have been a heel for most of my career, certainly on mainstream pro wrestling. I’ve been a heel. So this is my first real journey into being a baby face now. And it’s scary. It’s scary because it’s different. It feels vulnerable, but it’s really exciting.”

WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on Wednesday.
