Kurt Angle: I’m Probably Going To Have Neck Fusion Surgery In 2024

Kurt Angle is tentatively planning on having another surgery.

Angle continues to deal with some health issues in the aftermath of his wrestling career. He recently had back surgery, and he had both of his knees replaced in another procedure.

Speaking on The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer was asked to describe how he was feeling, and how his workouts have been going, after his recent back surgery.

“I hope my doctor’s not listening to this,” Angle said. “The day I got out of the hospital after my surgery, I went and worked out. I was supposed to take six weeks off. I never stopped working out. I worked out the day of my surgery, the day after, the day after that. But what I did was I did a lot of stuff standing so I wouldn’t affect my back. Because they told me I couldn’t carry more than five pounds.

“Now I was lifting a lot more than five pounds, and I think that I probably didn’t listen to them in that aspect. But I wasn’t literally carrying it while I was walking. I was sitting while I was lifting. So I did leg presses sitting down, I did my bench press sitting down, I did my military press sitting down. Everything I did was sitting down, so I took care of my back, but I didn’t want to miss my workouts.”

Angle continued by noting that his upper body is still “weak”, and he noted that he believes it always will be unless he gets fusion surgery in his neck. He was subsequently asked to describe how he’s feeling overall, and the WWE Hall of Famer made it clear that he’s happy with the surgery, though he still has some pain in his back.

The legend went on to explain that he hasn’t been able to play with his kids the way he wants to, and he’s hopeful that getting neck fusion surgery, likely in 2024, will help with that.

“The crazy thing is, I haven’t been able to really play with them the way I want to because I have my knees replaced, I had my back surgery,” Angle said. “Before that, it was all bothering me. I was really messed up. My neck is messed up. Next is my next surgery. I’m probably gonna have fusion [surgery] next year, and hopefully that’ll help my body.

“Eventually, I’ll be able to play with my kids. My knees have been able to… I’ve been able to come out of that pretty good. Once my back heal, I’ll be able to start play with my kids, throw them around the pool, carrying them on my back, doing that kind of stuff. I want to be a real father to my kids.”
