Anthony Bowens: Scissoring Is A Sign Of Friendship; You Can Scissor Your Mom

Anthony Bowens of The Acclaimed encourages everyone to scissor to prove that they’re a true friend.

Speaking with Simon Miller for WhatCulture Wrestling, Bowens discussed the popularity of the scissoring taunt he and Max Caster use. The symbol consists of Bowens and Caster locking fingers, and they gave used it throughout their rise in AEW. Miller noted that he hadn’t told fans to look the term up in Urban Dictionary as he was explaining it, and Bowens emphasized that scissoring is simply a sign of friendship. He stated that it can be done with everyone.

“Don’t ever look at Urban Dictionary. Scissoring is solely a sign of friendship. You can do it with your mom, your dad, your grandma, your brother, and your friend. Scissor everybody that you can and let them know that you are a true friend, and that you love The Acclaimed, damn it.”

Bowens was also asked about the success of The Acclaimed in AEW, and he noted that he hasn’t processed it yet. He stated that he’s grateful for the way they have been able to build a special connection with the audience.

“I still really haven’t processed it,” Bowens said. “Stepping back from crazy Anthony Bowens right now, truly, I haven’t processed it. I’m just grateful and thankful that we’ve been able to build a connection with the audience to the point where they go crazy and all everybody wants to anywhere I go is scissor.

“Everybody wants to scissor, and that personal connection means even more to us than just being able to go out there and wrestle because we can wrestle anywhere. We wrestled on the indies for ten years in front of some people. But then you get to this, the magnitude, and you see how you’re affecting people positively. It’s incredible.”

The Acclaimed and “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn picked up a dominant win on the April 28 episode of AEW Rampage. Catch up on our coverage of the show here.
