Report: Update On Matt Cardona’s Departure From IMPACT Wrestling

Matt Cardona‘s time with IMPACT Wrestling has come to an end, and a new report shines some light on the situation.

Cardona made his debut at IMPACT Hard To Kill 2021, and he had been a featured member of the roster throughout his time with the company. He won the IMPACT Digital Media Championship and later teamed up with Brian Myers as the Major Players. Cardona has not wrestled for IMPACT since the Florida TV tapings in January 2023.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Cardona has finished up with IMPACT for the time being, as the two sides couldn’t agree on a deal. Per Sapp, Cardona had been working without a contract, and IMPACT wanted to sign him to a deal with guaranteed dates. The report noted that Cardona preferred to keep working on the handshake deal they had been operating on, but that “wasn’t made an option.”

In the report, Sapp wrote that IMPACT has been somewhat more “adamant’ in signing talent to deals recently. Sources noted that there was no drama in Cardona’s exit, and the two sides are open to working together again in the future. Cardona was said to be adamant that he would be open to returning on a handshake deal.

Cardona continues to compete for GCW, AIW, and various other companies on the independent scene.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
