AEW Dynamite Results (5/10/23): Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega

AEW presented a star-studded episode of AEW Dynamite on May 10.

Among other bouts, Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley clashed in a Steel Cage Match. Plus, Rey Fenix faced Claudio Castagnoli, the House of Black defended the AEW World Trios Championship, and Orange Cassidy put the AEW International Championship on the line.

The results are as follows:

Double Jeopardy Match: ROH World Champion ClaudioCastagnoli vs. ROH World Tag Team Champion Rey Fenix

Claudio and Fenix feel each other out early on, and the ROH World Champion takes an early advantage. Fenix rallies and dives onto Claudio at ringside. Castagnoli counters another dive and presses Fenix into the barricade. Fenix rallies and hits a hurricanrana off of the barricade. Back in the ring, Castagnoli slams Fenix. The ROH World Tag Team Champion catches Castagnoli with a hurricanrana. Castagnoli drills Fenix with a lariat. “The Swiss Cyborg” presses Fenix over the barricade and into the crowd. Castagnoli grounds Fenix for a few minutes and gets a two count with a gutwrench slam. Fenix keeps fighting, and he dives onto Castagnoli at ringside. Castagnoli drills Fenix with an uppercut in midair. Fenix gets a two count with a sunset flip bomb. Fenix drills Castagoli with a kick. Castagnoli slams Fenix for a two count. A Ricola bomb clinches the win for Castagnoli.

Winner: Claudio Castagnoli

Miro is walking backstage. He brushes past Renee Paquette and enters Tony Khan’s office.

In a video package, AEW World Champion MJF discusses the four-way title match at AEW Double or Nothing.

A video package highlights the feud between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega.

AEW World Tag Team Champions FTR (Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood) come to the ring. They invite Mark Briscoe out, and they’re instead answered by Jeff Jarrett, Jay Lethal, Sonjay Dutt, and Satnam Singh. Dutt tells them to accept Jarrett and Lethal’s challenge to a title match at AEW Double or Nothing. Harwood says he will accept the challenge if they admit to using Briscoe to get to them. Briscoe comes out and reveals that he talked to Tony Khan, and at AEW Double or Nothing, the two teams will face off at Double or Nothing, and Mark will be the special guest referee. Mark hands out some cups, and the two teams drink to the match. Dutt spits the drink at Harwood, and the challengers try to attack FTR, Mark breaks it up, but Harwood, blinded by the drink, accidentally drops him with a piledriver.

Backstage, Chris Jericho is asked about Adam Cole attacking him. Jericho says Cole created an uncertain work environment. He reveals that he got a court order that prevents Cole from being in the same building as him. Roderick Strong confronts Jericho and stands up for Cole. Strong challenges Chris Jericho to a Falls Count Anywhere match. Jericho accepts, and Strong reveals that the J.A.S. will also be barred from the building.

Renee Paquette is backstage, standing outside of Tony Khan’s office. Thunder Rosa shows up and walks into Khan’s office.

Tony Khan says the show has one of the strongest lineups in AEW history. He says there are stars lined up and they’re looking for a chance to wrestle. He says it’s clear that AEW can produce more content than ever, and he encourages fans to stay tuned for a major announcement next week.

AEW International Championship: Orange Cassidy (c) vs. Daniel Garcia

Cassidy and Garcia battle it out, and the challenger takes an early advantage. Garcia grounds Cassidy and maintains control of the match. Cassidy rallies, but Garcia gains the upper hand again. The champion hits a modified Beach Break for a two count. Garcia counters the Orange Punch with a dropkick to the knee. The challenger stops Cassidy from putting his hands in his pockets and hits a piledriver for a two count. Cassidy rolls Garcia up for a two count. Cassidy huts the Beach Break for a two count. Garcia locks on the Dragonslayer and transitions into a crossface. Cassidy rolls up Garcia for the win.

Winner and still AEW International Champion: Orange Cassidy

In a promo, The Outcasts comment on Hikaru Shida’s return. Britt Baker and Jamie Hayter comment on it as well. Baker and Hayter accept the challenge to a trios match next week on AEW Dynamite.

Christian Cage and Luchasaurus come to the ring. Cage is asked about his claim that he will challenge Wardlow for the TNT Chmpionship, as he previously noted that he’s the top contender. Cage says it’s because he’s Christian Cage. He says when your name has that kind of cache, you get what you want. Cage questions why so many wrestlers in AEW have daddy issues. He says he won’t waste his breath on Wardlow’s father, but the TNT Champion found the father he was looking for. He also says Anderson found the son he was looking for. Cage criticizes Anderson and notes that he’s never won the world title. Cage demands Wardlow to be in the ring next week, when he will realize that his days as the champion are all but over.

No Holds Barred: Julia Hart vs. Anna Jay A.S.

Jay attacks Hart during her entrance. She throws a trash can into the ring. Hart dumps Jay to the outside and slams her into the barricade. Jay suplexes Hart on the floor. Hart takes control, but Jay fights back and slams her onto chairs at ringside. Jay hits Hart with a trashcan. She puts the can on Hart and kicks it. Hart suplexes Jay onto some chairs. She locks in the Hartless, and Jay taps out.

Winner: Julia Hart

Backstage, the Best Friends and Bandido are asked about their title match. For their rule, the Best Friends bar all “witches” from ringside to make sure Julia Hart can’t interfere.

AEW World Trios Championship: House of Black (Buddy Matthews, Malakai Black & Brody King) vs. Best Friends (Trent Beretta & Chuck Taylor) & Bandido

Black and Bandido start the bout and go back and forth. Black takes control and drills Bandido with a knee strike. He traps Bandido in a knee-bar, but the former ROH World Champion reaches the ropes. Taylor yags in, and the challenges work together to triple-team Black. King tags in and takes control. The champions control the action and isolate Beretta. Bandido tags in and clears house with a flurry of offense. He dives onto Black and King. Matthews nails Bandido with a knee strike. King hits the Dante’s Inferno for the win.

Orange Cassidy is laid out backstage, and Kyle Fletcher of Aussie Open is standing over him. He poses with the title.

Steel Cage Match: Jon Moxley vs. Kenny Omega (with Don Callis)

Moxley takes the fight to Omega during his entrance. They brawl around ringside. Claudio Castagnoli and Wheeler Yuta attack Omega, but the Young Bucks make the save and even the odds. Bryan Danielson comes out from the commentary tab;e and distracts the Young Bucks. Castagnoli and Yuta beat up the Bucks. Nick Jackson dives off the stage and onto Castagnoli and Yuta. Security breaks them up. Omega and Moxley eventually get into the ring, and the match is underway.

The two foes trade blows. Omega gains the upper hand and gets a chair wrapped in barbed wire. Omega throws the chair at Moxley. He hits Moxley with the chair and grinds the barbed wire onto his back. Omega stomps the barbed wire onto Moxley’s back, and he’s bleeding. Moxley is also bleeding from his head. Moxley kisses the camera after he slams Omega into it. Omega hits a legdrop-bulldog onto a chair. Moxley takes control and unhooks the turnbuckle. He grinds the steel into Omega and hits him with it. Moxley chokes Omega with the ring ropes. Omega escapes, but Moxley rocks him. Moxley dumps broken glass on the mat, and Omega slams him near the glass. Omega rocks Moxley with a V-trigger. He goes for the One-Winged Angel, but Moxley escapes and locks in a sleeper hold. Omega slams Moxley onto the glass. Moxley fires up and locks in the chokehold again, but Omega escapes.

Omega drills Moxley with a V-trigger. Moxley and Omega trade blows. Omega nails him with two knee strikes. He hits a snap dragon suplex. Omega hits a V-trigger, and the impact broke the cage wall, so Moxley tumbles to the floor. Moxley gets a screwdriver, but Don Callis gets in the ring and takes it from him. Omega capitalizes and hits a ripcord V-trigger. He hits the One-Winged Angel, but Callis breaks up the pin by hitting Omega with the screwdriver. Moxley pins Omega.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Callis stands over Omega after the match. He goes to jab Omega with the screwdriver, but he drops it. Callis kisses the top of Omega’s head instead. He then smiles and indicates that he has something up his sleeve.
