Matt Hardy: I Love Wrestling, I Want To Do It While I’m Still Able To

AEW star Matt Hardy discusses what he wants to do with his platform going forward.

Hardy has been featured in a complex storyline with Ethan Page and The Firm for a number of months. Matt and his team defeated The Firm in The Firm Deletion on the May 5 episode of AEW Rampage, and he also scored a big win over Ethan Page and The Gunns at AEW Double or Nothing.

Speaking with Simon Miller of WhatCulture Wrestling, which was recorded prior to Jeff Hardy’s return, Matt was asked to describe his goals for the future. He made it clear that he wants to have a great final tag team run with Jeff. Matt noted that he also feels like it’s important to give back and help young talent.

“I think, if everything works out and Jeff comes back, I would like to have one hell of a final tag team run,” Hardy said. “I think that would be a big deal. It would really help kind of cement our legacy. As you said, I don’t have to go. Every time the Young Bucks come in, they go, ‘Oh, there he is, the living legend. He’s worth the digits. He doesn’t even have to be here, but he still has to come on his own accord.’ It’s one of those things where I just enjoy being around it. While I’m physically able to do it, I like doing it. It’s like my passion.

“They say that if you can find a job that you love and you can do it for free, it’s like you’re not working. So that’s kind of how pro wrestling is to me. Obviously, it’s grinding. It’s very tough physically. Travel can be tough, but I love it so much, and while I can do it, I want to do it. I also take a lot of pride in giving back and helping younger guys, whoever that may be.”
