Report: Details On Andrade El Idolo’s In-Ring Return, Nixed AEW Segment

Andrade El Idolo is returning to the ring, and a new report shines some light on the situation.

Andrade has been sidelined for a number of months; he last wrestled at AEW All Out 2022, and while he was set to compete on the October 7 episode of AEW Rampage, the match was called off. It was subsequently reported that he was sent home after an altercation with Sammy Guevara. Andrade later stated that he had surgery for a torn pectoral in November.

In an Instagram post, Andrade announced that he is set to compete at a show in Mexico on June 15; he will face Cibernetico and Psycho Clown.

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reports that Andrade was set to appear on the May 10 episode of AEW Dynamite. Like Miro and Thunder Rosa, he was panned for a segment that would tease the announcement of AEW Collision. Sapp wrote that Andrade didn’t want to do the segment, but the reasoning was not specified. Andrade was said to be backstage at the May 17 episode of AEW Dynamite, and he filmed a segment for social media.

Andrade has been advertised for AEW Collision, and he is expected to compete on the brand. However, Sapp cited sources close to the AEW star who insisted that he’s not physically ready to wrestle yet. The situation apparently changed, as he has been confirmed for the June 15 event in Mexico, and he had been in talks for another show in Puerto Rico, though it’s unclear if he would be wrestling there.

WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
