AEW Rampage Results (6/9/23): Women’s Title Number One Contender’s Match

All Elite Wrestling presented an action-packed episode of AEW Rampage on June 9.

As confirmed during the June 7 episode of AEW Dynamite, Britt Baker, Mercedes Martinez, Skye Blue, and Nyla Rose will clash in a four-way match. The winner will earn a shot at AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm on the June 14 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Elsewhere on the show, The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster) and “Daddy Ass” Billy Gunn will face Spanish Announce Project (Serpentico, Luther, and Angelico). Plus, the Lucha Bros (Rey Fenix and Penta El Zero Miedo) will team up with Bandido to take on Ethan Page, Lee Moriarty, and Big Bill. Powerhouse Hobbs will also be in action on Friday.

The AEW Rampage results are as follows:

Match 1: Bandido & Lucha Bros defeat Ethan Page, Big Bill & Lee Moriarty via pinfall

The opening match of the night ended with Ethan Page looking to get a big win, but coming up just short. Late in the match, Page attempted to hit the Ego’s Edge on Bandido, but The Hardys came out on the ramp and distracted them long enough with their microphone work to allow Bandido to hit the 21 plex for the pin and win.

The latest episode of QTV aired on Friday, and in celebration of the upcoming AEW Collision debut, they want to do something special. Instead of giving out ice cream to fans or announcing something big, however, they simplys aid they will go out to the ring and do what they do best, and show the fans what they can expect on Collision.

Match 2: Powerhouse Hobbs defeats Caleb Crush via pinfall

In the second match, Hobbs was absolutely dominant, taking down Crush (a local talent) in short time. The match ended after Crush was able to get one strike in, before Hobbs quickly dropped him with a spinebuster for the win.

Backstage segment: Arn Anderson and Wardlow

Anderson and Wardlow are interviewed by Renee Paquette, with Anderson saying that his son Brock is tough and will be fine after the attack he suffered at the hands of Christian and Luchasaurus. Anderson said the pair made a mistake by not “finishing the job,” though.

Wardlow then said that they’ve been disrespected long enough, and issued an open challenge to anyone who might want to face him for his TNT Championship. After that, Wardlow said, he’s going after Christian and Luchasaurus.

Match 3: Daddy Ass & The Acclaimed defeat Spanish Announce Project via pinfall

After some early shenanigans that saw Bowens attempting to scissor Angelico, things got pretty intense in the match. In the end, it was The Acclaimed who would use their teamwork to come out on top. Late in the match, the duo double-teamed Serpentico, essentially taking him out of the match.

After that, Max Caster then hit a big elbow drop from the top rope for the win, before everyone celebrated with a scissoring session in the ring.

In an interview with Renee Paquette on the ramp, Jarrett and his crew issued some challenges. Karen Jarrett said that she wants a piece of Aubrey Edwards, who promptly came back out with Mark Briscoe.

The two then jawed with each other for a bit before Briscoe took to the microphone and said that while AEW wouldn’t sanction a one-on-one match, they would sanction a mixed trios match. Sonjay Dutt then called them out for not having a third teammate, and Briscoe said that he would have one, his father Papa Briscoe.

Match 4: Skye Blue defeats Britt Baker, Nyla Rose, and Mercedes Martinez via pinfall

In a stunning turn of events, Skyla Blue was the one who walked out on top with a big win, earning herself a shot at the AEW Women’s World Championship in the process.

In the four-way match, things started pretty chaotic from the minute the bell rang. All four superstars were going at it, and as things continued to break down, Blue seized her opportunity late in the match. Toward the end, Mercedes Martinez hit a big suplex on Rose, while Baker stomped her right after to all but knock her out of the match.

Outside of the ring, Baker and Martinez began to brawl. This allowed Blue to take advantage of the injured Rose, and after a quick Code Blue, she pinned Rose for the win to earn a shot at Toni Storm next week on AEW Dynamite.
