Report: Ronda Rousey Has Given WWE A ‘Hard Out’ Date

Ronda Rousey’s current stint with WWE is set to end sooner rather than later. Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer is reporting that Shayna Baszler turning on Ronda Rousey to set up a feud between the two was always the plan due to Ronda Rousey giving WWE a ‘hard out’ date.

Meltzer said, “This was always, always, always the plan. It kept getting delayed and then Ronda got hurt and the thing was – and I don’t know the date, and it might be SummerSlam, it might be a little bit after – the deal is that Ronda has a hard out. She gave a date, ‘This is my last date.’ Cause I remember talking to somebody there and it’s like, ‘I know they’re going to do this, and I guess, make the big match for WrestleMania.’ And it’s like, ‘No, her hard out is…’ – they didn’t give me the date but it’s long before WrestleMania.”

Ronda Rousey was adamant in doing a feud with Shayna because Shayna is credited with being the one that got Rousey into pro wrestling. Setting up a tag team between the two was the ideal way of ultimately introducing a feud between the pair. Meltzer said due to Rousey wanting to be done sooner rather than later, they had to pull the trigger now. Dave said, “This was the latest they could go. Yeah, they wanted a long title reign to build it up and to do the whole thing where you can see the stuff coming, the little teases and everything. They didn’t have time. Things just got screwed up. Really it was the broken arm that screwed it up more than anything else but that’s what happened.”

Rousey took a near 3-year absence from WWE after losing in the main event of WrestleMania 35, returning at the Royal Rumble in 2022. Rousey’s previous WWE stint lasted from her debut at WrestleMania 34 to her loss in the main event of WrestleMania 35. It is unknown whether Rousey plans to be done for good or take another lengthy hiatus from the company.
