This match is occurring because Champagne Singh stated, in an internet exclusive video, that he now had McCarty’s four Stanley Cup Championship Rings and challenged the NHL great to find a partner for a tag team clash. Speaking of legends, Tommy Dreamer supported McCarty on social media, making this match official.
