Santos Escobar will have the chance to earn a title match.
On the July 14 episode of WWE SmackDown, Escobar won the first of two Fatal Four-Way matches in the United States Championship Invitational. He pinned Grayson Waller at the end of a hard-fought bout to clinch the win. The match also included AJ Styles and Butch. Styles was essentially taken out of the match when Karrion Kross appeared on the video screen and revealed that he had attacked The O.C. backstage. Styles left the ring, and Waller blindsided him.
In a WWE Digital Exclusive, Escobar celebrated his victory and thanked Rey Mysterio for his support.
The second four-way match in the invitational will be held on the July 21 episode of WWE SmackDown; Rey Mysterio will face LA Knight, Sheamus, and Cameron Grimes. WrestleZone will have coverage of the show as it airs.
