Logan Paul didn’t like being a heel in WWE at first.
Paul recently interviewed WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins on a recent episode of Impaulsive. During their conversation, Paul asked Rollins if he’s had a major heel run.
“Yes. Oh yeah, the audience goes up and down with me,” Rollins said. “You experienced the side that they really enjoy, but I think being paired with you has helped bring that out a little bit. So we first started in 2012 with The Shield. It was me, Roman Reigns, Jon Moxley, who’s over in AEW now. The three of us, we were just in tact vests and riot gear.
“We just burst onto the scene like a badass boy band. We took over pretty quick. And then when I infamously betrayed The Shield in 2014, that started the run of hatred. It was pretty strong there for a few years. It was pretty rotten.”
Paul brought that up because he didn’t like being a heel when he first joined WWE.
Eat It Up
“I ask because I’m obviously a heel, and I like it, but I didn’t at first,” Paul said. “When I first got there and people started booing me, I really took it personal. I just didn’t understand. I was pissed. Bruce Prichard came back, he was like, ‘That was amazing. They hate you.’ ‘Why is that amazing? I’m affected by this.’
“Now, I eat it up, and I’ve started to play with the interaction with people in the front row who are booing me,” Paul continued. “I have to say, the WWE fans have balls, sir. I will get in their face and they’re flipping me off. ‘Fuck you.’ I’m right here [in their face]. I’m sorry, sir, I could end your life where you stand — I obviously won’t because it’s illegal — the fact that they have no regret and no signs of backing down right in front of my face, they have respect for me… They’re a character too. They’re all there to have fun. Now, I’m leaning into it. I’m liking it, and they love to hate me.”
Paul also mentioned that his girlfriend’s father was in attendance for WWE Money in the Bank and had to prepare him for the negative reactions he would receive from the London crowd.
