Tony Khan On Samoa Joe: He’s Awesome Both In The Ring And Backstage

Tony Khan was very thankful that Samoa Joe was able to compete at Death Before Dishonor on Friday night.

Ring of Honor owner Tony Khan took part in the Death Before Dishonor Media Scrum to answer a wide variety of questions. When asked about the report that Samoa Joe wasn’t originally scheduled for this show due to prior commitments in Hollywood, Khan said it never came to that.

“It never came to that, but I think thankfully he was available, and he’s here,” Tony Khan said. “Samoa Joe is one of the greatest wrestlers in Ring of Honor history, the inaugural Hall of Fame class and a dominant TV champion and undefeated in this new iteration of Ring of Honor. I thought it was a great match tonight, so I was really happy he was here, and we’re very fortunate to have Samoa Joe in ROH and AEW.

“He’s also been a huge part of the AEW Collision launch. And he’s been a great champion in AEW really for the past year plus, he was a great TNT Champion, and I think he’s just the king of television. I was just really glad he was here. He’s awesome both in the ring and backstage; Samoa Joe is really a leader I think backstage, and certainly in the ring.”
