Nate Diaz will make his boxing debut when he faces Jake Paul on August 5, but he could have faced Logan Paul instead.
Per Marc Raimondi of ESPN, Zach Rosenfield, President of Real Fight Inc., stated that Nate Diaz had a “very interesting and attractive offer” to fight Logan Paul. However, WWE got involved, which soured Diaz’s interest in the match.
Diaz shared his thoughts on the matter and made it clear that he wanted to fight for real. He made it clear that he would not do a real fight on a WWE card.
“The WWE came in and then they wanted to take over the whole thing,” Diaz said. “And I’m like, ‘I just got out of the UFC, why am I going to sign with WWE?’ I fight for real. I’m not gonna be doing a real fight on a WWE card or no funny s— like that.”
Logan Paul commented as well, as he noted that he heard about Diaz’s mentality. He called the reasoning a “weak cop-out.” The WWE star also stated that you can still be a real fighter with “the biggest sports organization in the world.
“You can still be a real fighter with the biggest sports organization in the world promoting your fight,” Logan said. “It’s a little lame to me, and I can definitely sell more tickets. I see what he’s doing. I’m the harder fight. I’m the bigger brother, I’m the stronger brother, I’m the faster brother.”
Raimondi noted that WWE did not respond to a request for a comment.
Logan will face Ricochet at WWE SummerSlam. He previously noted that he requested to go on first so he could attend Jake’s fight.
As previously announced, Logan will return to boxing on October 14.
