Hiromu Takahashi Wants To Wrestle On AEW TV, Names Darby Allin As Potential Opponent

Hiromu Takahashi says he wants to wrestle on TV, and he’d be excited to compete in AEW.

Takahashi is the reigning IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion. He won the title for the fifth time at NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17, where he defeated Taiji Ishimori.

Speaking with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Takahashi commented on potentially defending his title in AEW. He also named Darby Allin as a potential opponent he would like to share the ting with.

“A dream of mine is to have a match on live prime time TV,” Takahashi said. “I’d be stoked to wrestle in AEW any time and defend the IWGP junior heavyweight title there. Last year, I was supposed to team up with Darby Allin and Sting. So I want to team up with Sting rather than wrestle him. Wrestling someone? That would be Darby.”

Takahashi has competed for AEW in the past. He was set to wrestle at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2022, but he missed the show due to a fever. The NJPW star made his AEW debut at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023. He teamed up with Shingo Takagi and Bush to defeat Jeff Cobb, Kyle Fletcher, and TJP.

Hiromu Takahashi will compete at both All Star Junior Festival on August 19 and IMPACT x NJPW Multiverse United 2 on August 19 and 20,
