Raquel Rodriguez will finally get her shot at the gold at WWE Payback.
Rodriguez has been feuding with WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley for several weeks, as “The Eradicator” cost her and Liv Morgan the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship. Ripley took out Rodriguez by injuring her knee, and she has been sidelined for some time. The former NXT Women’s Champion has been aiming to face Ripley, but WWE official Adam Pearce told her she would have to wait until she was medically cleared.
On the August 21 episode of WWE RAW, Ripley defeated Candice LeRae in a non-title match. After the bell, Rodriguez came to the stage with a crutch. She then threw the crutch at Ripley to prove she didn’t need it. Rodriguez attacked Ripley and gained the upper hand. She proceeded to announce that she will face Ripley at WWE Payback on September 3.
