Bryan Danielson Describes How He’s Staying Positive Despite Arm Injury

Bryan Danielson will miss AEW All In at Wembley Stadium due to an injury. However, he is looking at the bright side.

Speaking on The Nikki & Brie Show, Danielson was asked to name his favorite match in AEW. He noted that he doesn’t have a favorite, as he judges things by his experience. Danielson then recalled his match against Okada at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door. There, he suffered a broken arm during the bout. He described how he found joy in persevering through the injury.

“My last match where I broke my arm, I was wrestling Okada. He did an elbow drop to me off the top rope, and it ended up breaking my arm. Then I wrestled another ten minutes with the broken arm, which doctors said made it worse. But that said, I find a certain joy in doing things that are hard and finishing them. Even though it probably caused me a little bit more damage, I got more value out of it given that that had happened versus if it had not happened.”

Danielson went on to note that the fact that he’ll be unable to compete at AEW All In is hard. However, he highlighted how the injury made his match with Okada more meaningful.

“If I could take it back, I would wish my arm never got broken, so I’d be able to wrestle at All In at Wembley,” Danielson said. “It’s gonna be one of the biggest wrestling crowds in history on Sunday. I don’t get to take part in it because my arm is still healing.

“Yeah, [it’s hard], but despite that, I wouldn’t ask for my arm to be broken if I could do it over again. But because it did happen and I couldn’t control it, it almost gave more meaning to how I felt about the match itself. Also, I did a press conference afterwards with my broken arm. We didn’t know how bad it was at the time.”

Bryan Danielson Details Staying Positive Despite His Injury

Bryan Danielson then compared the situation to fasting. He noted that the injury forced him to question whether he could ensure something uncomfortable and keep a good attitude. The AEW star then emphasized that he enjoyed his match with Okada.

“I think, and I do this a lot when I fasting, there’s a lot of benefits to fasting,” he said. “But when you put yourself in an uncomfortable position or you do something and it’s uncomfortable and you keep doing it, it’s not, ‘Okay, yay, I did it.’ It’s, ‘Can I do this?’ For example, fasting or wrestling with a broken arm or doing a press conference with a broken arm.

“‘Can I do this and can I keep a good attitude while being in pain, while being starving?’ Those are the things I think to myself when these things are happening. So that’s one of the matches that I really like. If I’m looking back on something versus experiencing it in the moment, I really enjoyed that match with Okada.”

Danielson is reportedly expected to return in October. WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
