EC3 Talks Retiring Tyrus, Says NWA Is Entering The ‘Over Era’

EC3 shares his thoughts on winning the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship and retiring Tyrus.

At NWA 75 Night Two, EC3 beat Tyrus to win the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion. Due to the loss, Tyrus was forced to retire.

Speaking with MuscleManMalcolm, EC3 discussed his relationship with Tyrus.

“Tyrus, I came up with through FCW. We were together on the godawful iteration of NXT season four. He was my heavy, my bodyguard, my confidant, my soulmate. He helped me win the world title, [and] he also helped me lose one, kind of classic Tyrus. But we’ve been friends for so long.

“He’s opened up his platform with his news career, love it or hate it, he has a podcast that has hundreds of thousands of listeners that I get to be a part of. We are very like-minded, we are cut from that same cloth of FCW, Dusty Rhodes training, hard times, grinding it out.”

EC3 Says NWA Is Entering The ‘Over Era’

EC3 continued by stating that he gave Tyrus a perfect ending. He noted that he was the only one who could be Tyrus’ opponent in his retirement match. The champion also stated that NWA is entering the “Over Era” in a nod to his nickname as “The Overman.”

“To be in his last match, to be the one that gave him what I call a perfect ending, it felt cathartic, in a way,” EC3 said. ” Because it could only be me to do that. To become the champion in the process, he did a great service with the title. He carried the flag for a long time, had it on national news in front of millions of people.

“But as we go forward into a new generation, new era, the Over Era of NWA, myself holding this is the right move. It feels good.”
