MJF Is The People’s Jerk And They Like His Authenticity

For the majority of his career, MJF has been one of the most hated people in AEW. It seems that recently he has turned a new leaf.

Ever since forming a tag team with Adam Cole, Maxwell Jacob Friedman seems to have become a babyface. For over four years, the Salt of the Earth has been playing the character of a heel. He has been hated not only by the wrestlers but also by the fans and by the commentators. The self-proclaimed Devil of AEW was seemingly hated by his parents too.

Recently, Friedman was a special guest on the morning show of CBS New York. He was asked about his recent change in character. The AEW World Champion revealed that he still is the same character but the fans have begun to enjoy his current run.

“Here’s the deal, for the longest time, I was a bit of a jerk. Now I’m kind of the People’s Jerk. People are starting to kind of enjoy the fact that I am honest, some might say to a fault. But I think people like authenticity and that’s what MJF brings to the table,”  MJF said.

He also shared his thoughts about his best friend Adam Cole.

“Adam Cole is my best friend. Absolutely. 100% He’s my best friend. Incredible guy, incredible professional wrestler. We also happen, I am not only the AEW World Champion, we also happen to be the Tag Champions in the company as well.”

This week on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam, MJF is set to defend his title against Samoa Joe. This is certainly Friedman’s toughest challenge yet. The event will take place at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.
