Ian Riccaboni: Willow Nightingale Is ‘The Best Thing Going’

Current AEW star Willow Nightingale has had a successful run in the Jacksonville-based promotion. She has also had a good run in Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling. Color commentator Ian Riccaboni had some positive words for the 29-year-old wrestler.

Riccaboni has recently praised Willow’s talent as a professional wrestler. He claimed that the AEW star is the best thing in women’s wrestling right now.

“@willowwrestles is the best thing going. She’s infectious and contagious in all the best ways. I don’t want to speak for @CapriceColeman but if someone told us we’d call nothing but Willow matches from here out, I think we’d be just fine with that,” Ian Riccaboni tweeted.

The self-proclaimed Babe with the Power has achieved a lot in her short career. One of her most recent achievements was defeating Mercedes Moné to become the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champion. She’s also successfully defended the title against Emi Sakura.

This past July, Willow Nightingale lost the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship against English wrestler Giulia. Since dropping the title, the Babe with the Power has been actively wrestling in AEW and Ring of Honor.

Willow Nightingale is open to a rematch against Mercedes Moné

As mentioned earlier, Nightingale’s biggest win this year was against Mercedes Moné. The only issue with that win was the fact that she didn’t win in convincing faction. The CEO of professional wrestling got injured mid-way through the match. Thus, there are still some doubts among the members of the wrestling world on whether Moné should have won the match.

During an interview with amNew York Metro, Willow Nightingale opened up about the match and revealed that she is looking forward to a rematch against the former WWE Superstar.

“She did get injured in that match, so there is always going to be that little chip on my shoulder, and the little asterisk where people are like ‘Oh, but Mercedes got hurt,’” Willow said. “I’d like to just have the most competitive match that we could, you know, barring any kind of confusion out from left field, and just have a nice match and see where that brings us,” Willow Nightingale said.

The former Raw Women’s Champion hasn’t returned to in-ring action since her injury. But, it will be interesting to see if she might show up in AEW to challenge Willow for a rematch.
