Tiffany Stratton Reveals Why ‘Daddy’s Little Rich Girl’ Character Was Dropped

Tiffany Stratton looks back on the “Daddy’s Little Rich Girl” chapter of her career.

Stratton debuted as one of the new stars of the NXT 2.0 brand. She portrayed “Daddy’s Little Rich Girl” and frequently referred to her “daddy.” However, after Stratton missed some time with an injury, the character was dropped upon her return.

Speaking with Steve Fall for WrestlingNewsCo, Stratton reflected on her run as “Daddy’s Little Rich Girl” and revealed that it was dropped because WWE didn’t have a “daddy” for her. (H/t WrestlingNewsCo for the transcription)

“In the beginning, I was kind of like Daddy’s little rich girl,” Tiffany Stratton said. “I kind of just was like, I want to get on TV. You know, this was kind of like, new and different, I guess. So I pitched it. It stuck. It works for a little bit until they’re like, we don’t have a daddy for you. So you’re not daddy’s little rich girl.”

Tiffany Stratton: Plans For Potential ‘Daddy’ Never Got Far

Tiffany Stratton was then asked whether there were plans to introduce a “daddy” for her in NXT. She stated that they never got that far, and she thinks that’s why it was scrapped.

“We never got that far. We never really [thought] it out. So that’s why I think it got scrapped. But eventually, the character my big inspo was Sharpay Evans from High School Musical. I think she’s an icon.”

In recent months, Tiffany Stratton has become one of the top stars in NXT. She won the NXT Women’s Championship but later lost it to Becky Lynch. Stratton will challenge Lynch for the title in an Extreme Rules Match.

WrestleZone will have coverage of NXT No Mercy on September 30.
