Claudio Castagnoli: Orange Cassidy Is The Modern Version Of A ‘Classic Good Guy’

There are so many talents in the world of professional wrestling that may have not been used to their full potential in WWE. One such star is Claudio Castagnoli. Despite being in the Stamford-based promotion for over a decade, he had never been able to hold on to the World Heavyweight Championship. He was only able to do so when he showed up in AEW.

The Swiss Superman made a shocking debut on the Jacksonville-based promotion at the first edition of the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view. Since then, he has been able to capture the ROH World Heavyweight Championship twice.

Just like Castagnoli, another star with another impressive title run in AEW was Orange Cassidy. He held the International title for over 300 days. During a recent interview with SPORF, Claudio Castagnoli shared his honest thoughts about Orange Cassidy.

“I think he’s come a really long way and I think people kind of see it for what he is now. He’s just a modern version of a classic good guy, you know? And he is, obviously really, really good at what he does,” Castagnoli said.

Castagnoli also spoke about Orange Cassidy’s match against Jon Moxley.

“And to see that match with him and Jon after, you know, he defended that International Title for so long and put it onto a level that the fans would accept it to main event the pay-per-view, no questions asked. Then of course, you know, Jon was Jon. He’s just awesome. And it was a really fun match to watch. I watched it together with Brian and Yuta. So we were all just yelling and screaming. It was great.”

The Freshly Squeezed One recently managed to capture the International Championship for the second time.
