Goldberg: The Talent Leading The Charge Are Doing A Good Job, They’re Just Not Deep

Goldberg shares his thoughts on the state of modern wrestling.

WWE continues to set new records in various ways, both in premium live event viewership and numerous other metrics. Elsewhere, AEW received a third show on national television in June with the premiere of AEW Collision, and the company recently signed WWE Hall of Famer Adam Copeland (Ege). Other companies like IMPACT Wrestling continue to thrive as well.

Speaking with the Chicago Sports Podcast, Goldberg was asked whether he think the pro wrestling industry is healthier today, compared to the Monday Night Wars. He briefly criticized the product before he stated that the talent leading the charge are doing a good job, but they’re not deep.

“The product has more…production,” Goldberg said. “The internal storylines I don’t think are better. The characters I surely know aren’t better. But I don’t know. The guys that are doing their thing right now and leading the charge, they’re doing a damn good job. It’s just, they’re not deep.

“That’s all. They’re just not deep. So it’s hard to have a couple different people carrying the flag and be able to hand it off to a proper person and keep the….It’s tough to have the depth, and I think they’re lacking in that area. That’s all. Period. I don’t like getting into it. I don’t like people talking sh*t. Out of sight, out of mind.”

Goldberg has not wrestled since WWE Elimination Chamber 2022, where he lost to Roman Reigns. It is not known whether he will return to the ring.
