During NXT Halloween Havoc Night 2 on October 31, NXT North American Champion Dominik Mysterio was tasked with defending his gold against Nathan Frazer, but he didn’t come without a costume.
In keeping with the Halloween spirit, Mysterio made his entrance as a prisoner whose handcuffs had to be unlocked by none other than WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley. The costume was a callback to Mysterio’s prison stint earlier this year during his rivalry with Rey Mysterio.
In the end, Mysterio landed a frog splash from the top rope and pinned Frazer in order to retain. But immediately after, Wes Lee returned to attack Mysterio and held up the North American title to send a direct message.
Lee has been off of television since September 12 when he lost a NXT Championship number one contender’s match against Ilja Dragunov. His record-breaking 269-day NXT North American title reign came to an end at the hands of Mysterio earlier this summer at NXT Great American Bash.
