WWE NXT is reportedly on the move.
Mike Johnson of PWInsider reports that WWE is “on the verge” of announcing a new home for NXT. Johnson cited sources who confirmed that WWE has been in talks with the CW Network for weeks. The discussions have centered around bringing NXT to the CW, where it would air on a weekly basis when the show’s current media rights deal is up in September 2024.
Johnson cited sources who noted that they believe the deal is very close too being completed, and it is set to be a five-year agreement. The report noted that the deal would see the biggest increase for NXT media rights fees ever. Additionally, the report notes that the CW has talked with several wrestling companies over the past year, but WWE became the focus of these talks.
NXT initially aired on WWE Network. The show moved to USA Network in 2019. WWE has been negotiating media rights deals for its weekly shows in recent months. As previously announced, SmackDown will return to USA Network in 2024.
WWE has been loading up NXT with main roster stars over the course of 2023. Becky Lynch had a brief run as the NXT Women’s Champion. Cody Rhodes and John Cena, among other stars, have also appeared on the show.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
