Darby Allin: I Will Be The Guy That Gets More Eyes On AEW

Darby Allin wants to bring more eyes to AEW by doing crazy things when he’s not wrestling.

Speaking with Blake Oestriecher of Forbes, Darby Allin made it clear that he wants to bring new fans to AEW. He noted that, with his work outside of the ring, he’s aiming to push the limits of what a wrestler can do.

“They give us so much creative freedom in and out of the ring. I’m trying to push the limits of what a professional wrestler can do,” Darby Allin said. “If I go to Nitro Circus, I’m gonna backflip the big wheel. I will be the guy that gets more eyes on AEW.”

Allin went on to describe how nobody else is doing what he is. He stated that he is willing to places where few others are.

“You’re never gonna catch another wrestler backflipping a big wheel,” Darby Allin said. “You’re never gonna catch another wrestler hiking Mount Everest or skateboarding with Tony Hawk,” Allin explained. “It’s just not gonna happen, and I’m willing to go, physically, places not a lot of other people are. If I have to be the guinea pig through my insanity outside the ring to get more eyes on AEW, let’s go.”

Darby Allin Highlights Crossover With Action Sports

Darby Allin then noted that, just as he goes crazy in the ring, he takes that approach outside of it. He explained that he hopes fans will see him elsewhere and give AEW a try,

“I’m gonna go crazy outside the ring because I do feel like there’s a crossover with action sports fans that have never given wrestling a shot,” Allin said. “So, if people see me going crazy and they’re like, ‘Oh let’s check out AEW. Let’s see what this is all about.’”

Allin also noted that the craziest stunt he’d like to potentially try would be going to space.

WrestleZone will have coverage of AEW Dynamite as it airs on November 15 and AEW Full Gear on November 18.
