Swerve Strickland believes he could do better as AEW World Champion than MJF.
Speaking with Scott Johnson for News4Jax, Swerve Strickland emphasized that he wants to win the AEW World Championship.
“Not just any type of gold. AEW world championship,” Swerve Strickland said. “Only to the top and I said in the middle of this year, if I had gotten the opportunities that Hangman Page would’ve gotten my first year, I would have been the first African American AEW world champion. And I do believe that. I can still do that.”
Strickland noted that he thinks MJF is doing a “good job” as the champion, he is confident that he could do better,
“I think I could do better,” Strickland said. “Without a doubt. Without a doubt.”
Swerve also made it clear that winning the world title will be his main focus for 2024. He stated that it was the only thing on his mind.
On the December 27 episode of AEW Dynamite, Strickland is set to compete in the Continental Classic Gold League Final. More information is available here.
