Matt Hardy Refutes Claim That He Has CTE

Matt Hardy says he’s in good shape, and fans should not be concerned about his health.

Hardy’s health has been a topic of conversation recently, but the AEW star says fans need not worry. Several days ago, Matt’s wife, made a comment about Matt’s brain was “fried with CTE.” That post has since been deleted, but the remark, coupled with Matt’s history in the ring, gave some cause for concern.

However, Matt responded to those claims and said he’s very healthy for someone his age and that he does not have CTE (chronic traumatic encephalopathy).

“I’m not sick. I don’t have CTE,” Hardy wrote on Twitter. “I am well physically, mentally & emotionally & extremely healthy, especially for someone my age.”

Another fan asked if that was an official diagnosis from Hardy’s doctor. Matt clarified that multiple doctors have told him he was healthy.

There is so much we can do

On a recent episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, Hardy spoke about his last few months in AEW. Matt believes The Hardyz have not been utilized properly, but there are ways to make positive contributions.

“It’s very important, I feel, to just state that I feel like there is such a great spot for us at AEW if we’re just utilized in the correct way. And we’ve just got to get there. Because still — Jon, as you were talking about earlier, that Wrestlecade we had this week. They said it was the biggest house they’d ever had for WrestleCade. We had such an insane line at the meet-and-greet. There’s still a huge fanbase that wants to see us and we’re beloved,” Matt Hardy explained.

“Sure, we’re not Matt and Jeff Hardy of 1999-2000, but there is so much we can do to help young guys continue to come up and also give our rub-off to these young guys. But we just need to be utilized in the right way and we hope we can get there,” Matt added. “We feel like we’re taking steps in the correct direction now. I feel like that. I feel like what we did tonight was a good step.”

Channel that frustration

Jeff agreed, and Matt said they’ve been patient, but the manner in which they’ve been used have been frustrating.

“And I’ll just say, creatively, just the way we’ve been utilized the last four months, it’s been very frustrating,” Matt Hardy admitted. “We’ve been very patient. But there has been a lot of frustration [with] things we’ve done and kind of how we’ve been utilized in some ways.”

“So I feel like the natural thing to play off of is [to] channel that frustration and put it into what we’re doing. There’s people — I call them malcontents, we can call them FI’s too — those people, if they hate us, we’ll give them a reason to hate us. There’s something we can do there to evolve our characters and reinvent. It’s something we’ve never done,” Matt Hardy added.
