Pump the brakes on the rumors that Kazuchika Okada is heading to WWE.
The wrestling world started buzzing on January 23, as Monthly Puroresu reported that one source close to Kazuchika Okada indicated that he was WWE-bound. The report noted that they were unable to verify the information with Okada himself.
In an update, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that talks connecting Kazuchika Okada with WWE and very premature. Sapp cites sources close to NJPW and Okaka who stated that that was not the situation as they know it, at least as they know it. Sources indicated that Okada seems early in the process of making his decision.
Per Sapp, one WWE higher-up said “that would be news to us”, regarding the previous report, and NXT sources said they had not heard anything that would indicate that Okada would be coming in. Additionally, AEW sources remain confident that they are in the running for Okada. Either way, anything about Okada’s future seems premature at the moment.
