Ortiz Reflects On Match With Cody Rhodes, How It Made Him Change For The Better

The birth of All Elite Wrestling opened the doors for many wrestlers to showcase their talents to a larger audience. One of the stars who became a more popular name in professional wrestling thanks to the Jacksonville-based promotion is Ortiz.

Ortiz was a top star in the tag team division along with Santana. The pair achieved success in IMPACT Wrestling and on the indies, but found a higher level of fame in AEW. The two joined forces with Chris Jericho forming the Inner Circle.

Ortiz also tested out his luck in the singles division. Back in 2020 he went head-to-head against former AEW TNT Champion Cody Rhodes. The two put on a spectacle for the fans. But The American Nightmare dominated the match and emerged victorious in the end.

Recently, Ortiz reacted to his match against Rhodes. He took to Twitter to mention that while wrestling that match, he was at an all-time low and was out of shape.

“This match I will always remember. I was physically out of shape. Not only did Cody whip my ass. My confidence was at an all time low. You gotta hit the bottom sometimes and say enough is enough! I made a vow that day to never feel like that again. It’s never too late to change!” Ortiz tweeted.

Ortiz’s former partner, Mike Santana, recently confirmed he had left AEW.
