Brought to you by:

Rob Van Dam is one of the most well-known wrestlers from the Extreme Championship Wrestling promotion. He’s a former WWE, ECW and TNA World Champion that is remembered for his innovative move set and flashy in-ring attire. RVD is also known for his appreciation for marijuana and its various benefits for pro wrestlers and recreationally.

Does Rob Van Dam still smoke weed?

Yes. Rob Van Dam can be seen during interviews and on his weekly YouTube series, 1 Of A Kind with RVD, rolling joints and smoking marijuana. RVD also still lends his name to RVD-branded products like rolling papers.

How often does RVD smoke weed?

RVD told one fan on Twitter that he smokes “about an ounce a week” when he is home. He gave a more in-depth answer during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, telling the host that he rolls multiple joints a day when he’s at home. How much can vary, but he usually starts with two joints/doobies in the morning.

“I wake up and I usually smoke two doobies in the morning, just like Bob Marley. And I’ll drink coffee, and then after that, I’ll either do something like go to the gym, or I gotta make some goals or go somewhere, pick something up, whatever.

“If I go and decide to go ahead and roll that third doobie, then that usually kinda changes the day and makes it more of a mellow day [laughs] after the third one. But yeah, I’m pretty much rolling all day, but, anywhere probably between 5 and 10, with a factor being sometimes if Katie’s there — people don’t think about that, but if she’s smoking with me and smokes half the doobie, then I’m only getting half as much.”

How long has RVD been smoking weed for?

Rob Van Dam says he has been smoking weed for more than 30 years.

During his 2021 WWE Icons special, Rob Van Dam said he first tried marijuana in 1991. He explained that Jimmy Del Ray, one-half of the Heavenly Bodies tag team, offered him a joint while on a tour of Jamaica in 1991.

“All the boys were so excited because the ganja was plentiful. I didn’t smoke it. I didn’t want to. But we were all at a cabana and the boys were passing around a joint and I remember Jimmy Del Ray saying, ‘Here!’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, no, thank you. I’m good.’ [He’s like], ‘Hit it, you primadonna! It’s not going to kill you!’ [I was like], ‘Oh. okay…’

“I remember hitting it one time. Did not enjoy it. I remember staring at the wall and then feeling even more paranoid. ‘They’re going to say I’m stoned now. Why am I looking at the wall?’ That was my first experience. I was noticing these athletes that I look up to that are in great shape, a lot of them smoke weed. That made me think maybe I should look into it. That opened up this whole new universe.”

Does RVD support legalizing cannabis?

Yes. RVD has been a huge advocate for marijuana for years. He’s appeared on television shows and his own podcast to advocate for legalizing weed, touting its benefits. RVD also spoke with Benzinga, telling the outlet that he credited marijuana for helping him overcome several factors, including concussions and other injuries.

“It makes it so that you can move around it,” he said. “You can deal with it. You can accept it.”

In addition, Rob Van Dam also launched his own brand of cannabis products, RVDCBD. The brand offered tinctures (concentrates), topicals and smokeable flower, with plans to expand to THC.
