AEW Dynamite Results (3/27/24): Will Ospreay, Young Bucks, Swerve Strickland, More

All Elite Wrestling delivered a star-studded show with the March 27 episode of AEW Dynamite.

Among other matches, Will Ospreay faced Katsuyori Shibata, and Swerve Strickland clashed with Konosuke Takeshita. Plus, the Young Bucks battled Private Party.

The results are as follows:

Will Ospreay Takes On Katsuyori Shibata

Will Ospreay vs. Katsuyori Shibata

Shibata and Ospreay feel each other out early on. Shibata drills Ospreay with some strikes. Ospreay drills Shibata with a kick and dives onto him at ringside. Shibata rocks him with a kick. They trade blows, and Shibata suplexes Ospreay on the floor. Shibata blasts Ospreay with another kick. He grounds Ospreay and targets his leg. Ospreay tries to rally but gets suplexed. Shibata continues to hone in on Ospreay’s leg. He maintains the advantage.

Ospreay fires up with some strikes, and they go back and forth. Shibata nails Ospreay with a kick to the face. Outside of the ring, Ospreay springboards off the barricade and takes Shibata down with a springboard. They trade forearms and trade volleys with strikes. Shibata drills Ospreay with some chops. Shibata wrenches Ospreay in an abdominal stretch. They trade suplexes. Ospreay counters a kick and hits Shibata with some forearms.

They keep battling, and Ospreay drops Shibata with a kick. Shibata locks in a sleeper, but Ospreay rallies and hits the Os-cutter. Shibata fires up, and they trade blows. Ospreay rocks Shibata with a strike and hits a Tiger Driver. Ospreay hits the Hidden Blade for the win.

Ospreay and Shibata show their respect for each other as they shake hands and embrace.

Backstage, the Young Bucks are asked about their match tonight. Matthew highlights their goals, such as retiring Sting and restructuring The Elite, which they did. Matthew says they asked Kazuchika Okada to watch their match. He makes it clear that their top goal is to win the tag team titles, and that journey continues tonight.

The Young Bucks Face Private Party On AEW Dynamite

AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarterfinal: The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson) vs. Private Party (Isiah Kassidy & Marq Quen)

Matthew and Isiah start the match. The Young Bucks briefly take control, but Private Party hits stereo superkicks. They dive onto the Young Bucks at ringside. Matthew sends Quen over the barricade. Kassidy hits the Silly String at ringside. Quen and Nicholas battle on the barricade, and Jackson hits a Falcon Arrow onto the floor. Kazuchika Okada is shown watching backstage.

The Young Bucks double-team Quen and maintain the advantage. Quen rallies as he drops Matthew with a side effect. Kassidy tags in and clears house with a flurry of offense. He rocks Matthew with a kick. He hits a springboard crossbody. The Young Bucks gain the upper hand again. Matthew dumps Quen with a suplex on the apron. Private Party hits Nicholas with the Gin and Juice. They keep rolling as they hit More Bang For Your Buck. Nicholas goes to get the ring bell. The referee stops him from using it. Matthew hits a low blow. Nicholas breaks up a pin attempt.

The Young Bucks evade a 630 splash by Quen and hit the EVP Trigger for the win.

In a taped message, Darby Allin is with Tony Hawk, who talks about his work with The Skatepark Project.

Backstage, Chris Jericho says HOOK exceeded his expectations, and he’s proud of him for beating him. He says he has never been in the ring with someone like HOOK. Jericho offers to give HOOK advice so he can become a world champion. HOOK accepts the offer. Jericho says he knows who HOOK can be. They bump fists and agree to “get it.”

Four-Way Match For TBS Title Shot

Winner Earns TBS Title Shot: Willow Nightingale vs. Kris Statlander vs. Skye Blue vs. Anna Jay

Mercedes Moné joins the commentary team for the match. The action quickly begins as Jay targets Willow. She gains the upper hand, but Willow rallies. Willow hits a crossbody. Blue gains the upper hand with a DDT. Statlander takes control. Blue rocks Statlander with a shot to the face. Statlander floors Blue with a Pounce at ringside. Willow stares down Mercedes. She dumps Jay with a slam at ringside.

Back in the ring, Statlander rallies with a flurry of offense. The four women keep battling. Blue nails Willow with a kick. Willow crushes Jay with a senton. Blue gets a two-count on Willow. She hits Code Blue, but Statlander breaks up the pin. Statlander hits Blue with a back-breaker. Willow hits a missile dropkick. Statlander and Willow square off. Nightingale accidentally knocks Statlander down as they clash with Blue. Willow slams Blue with a Death Valley Driver on the apron.

Jay sends Statlander to the outside with a kick. Willow pins Jay with a Doctor Bomb.

Winner: Willow Nightingale

Julia Hart attacks Willow after the match.

Dustin Rhodes discusses his momentum and says he’s still very passionate. The Butcher interrupts him and challenges him to a match on AEW Rampage. Rhodes says he will show The Butcher why he is a natural-born legend.

In a video message, AEW Women’s World Champion Toni Storm is standing by with Turner Classic Movies’ Ben Mankiewicz. He won’t say “Tits out” when Toni asks, so the champion walks away.

Swerve Strickland sends a message to Konosuke Takeshita ahead of their match and AEW World Champion Samoa Joe.

AEW Tag Title Tournament Continues

AEW World Tag Team Championship Tournament Quarterfinal: Best Friends (Orange Cassidy & Trent Beretta) (with Chuck Taylor) vs. Undisputed Kingdom (Mike Bennett & Matt Taven) (with Roderick Strong)

Orange Cassidy takes the fight to Taven and dives onto Undisputed Kingdom at ringside as The Best Friends take an early advantage. Bennett chops Beretta, and Taven and Bennett double-team him. Beretta suplexes Taven. Taven drills Beretta with a kick. Bennett plants Beretta with a piledriver on the apron. Undisputed Kingdom continues to control the action. They double-team Beretta, but he counters a moonsault.

Cassidy tags in and clears house with a flurry of offense. Taven nails Cassidy with a knee strike. Taven and Bennett hit the Proton Pack for a two-count. Beretta and Cassidy double-team Bennett for a two-count of their own. Beretta plants Taven with a DDT, and Cassidy hits one as well. Roderick Strong distracts Cassidy, and Cassidy dives onto him. Taven and Bennett go for the stump piledriver, and Beretta gets the three-count with a roll-up.

The Young Bucks come to the stage and stare down Cassidy and Beretta.

Backstage, Kyle O’Reilly expresses his excitement about his return. He says he’ll be in action again on AEW Collision, as he is determined to prove that he belongs.

In a taped promo, TNT Champion Adam Copeland discusses his win against Christian Cage and issues an open challenge for AEW Collision.

Swerve Strickland Battles Konosuke Takeshita

#1 Contender’s Match For AEW World Championship: Swerve Strickland (with Prince Nana) vs. Konosuke Takeshita (with Don Callis)

Strickland and Takeshita shake hands and feel each other out. They are evenly matched early on. Takeshita gains the upper hand as AEW World Champion Samoa Joe is shown watching backstage. Swerve drills Takeshita with a kick. Swerve hits a neckbreaker and drops Konosuke with a back-breaker. Takeshita plants Swerve with a brainbuster. He maintains the advantage and overpowers Swerve at ringside.

Takeshita continues to ground Swerve. Strickland and Takeshita trade strikes. Swerve dumps Takeshita to the outside and hits him with a hurricanrana onto the floor. He hits a diving crossbody. Takeshita nails Swerve with a stiff shot to the face. He kicks Swerve and dives onto him at ringside. Swerve fires up and drops Takeshita with a DDT. Takeshita spikes Swerve with a reverse hurricanrana and gets a two-count with a Blue Thunder Bomb. Takeshita stuns Swerve with a knee strike. Swerve hits a Flatliner. He hits the Swerve Stomp on the apron. Takeshita powerbombs Swerve. They keep going back and forth as Takeshita hits a knee strike.

Strickland hits the House Call and Swerve Stomp for a near fall. They trade stiff blows, and Swerve hits a Swerve Stomp in mid-air. He hits the Big Pressure for the win.

Backstage, AEW World Champion Samoa Joe comments on Swerve’s win and tells Strickland to sign on the dotted line next week.
