Cody Rhodes: My Mom Said She’s Bringing Her Bear Spray To WrestleMania, I Told Her You Can’t Do That

Cody Rhodes doesn’t think The Rock knows what he’s getting himself into by calling out his mother ahead of WrestleMania XL.

The American Nightmare was a guest this morning on the TODAY Show. When asked about The Rock calling out “Mama Rhodes,” Cody revealed his mother wanted to bring bear spray to WrestleMania, but he had to inform her that she couldn’t get that into the stadium.

“You know it’s gotten somewhere when you bring in the moms,” Cody Rhodes said. “My mom told me she was gonna bring her bear spray. I had to let her know you can’t can’t bring that into the stadium. My mom has been part of wrestling — she married my dad when he was at the height of his fame in the industry. She’s seen all this.

“And I don’t think Rock knows this, and I ain’t gonna be the one to tell him; my mom’s usually asleep when the shows are on. So she’s coming into WrestleMania week in Philadelphia, probably just everyone wondering what she’s gonna do. Who knows? She’s the best; she’s seen it all. She’s perfect; she’ll be there in the front row. Rock ain’t getting nowhere near her, and if I can say anything about The Rock’s mom: lovely lady.”

Cody Rhodes is prepared to take down the part-time champion Roman Reigns

When asked about his rematch with Roman Reigns on night two, Rhodes said he feels more prepared for Roman than ever and believes The Tribal Chief’s part-time schedule will give him the decisive advantage.

“Well, Saturday’s match with The Rock, Seth Rollins, my partner, it’s bearing on if we win Saturday, it’s a fair fight with Roman and I Sunday which we didn’t have last year. He’s got 85 family members all around the ring; I had nobody. That’s what we’re looking to do.

“But I feel I am more prepared for Roman than ever. I’ve had a year full-time on the road, got all my reps in and Roman has been very — and this is not a knock on him. I don’t begrudge it; he’s been a part-time champion. So I think part-time lungs and part-time wind.”
