AEW Dynamite Viewership Increases On 5/1, Demo Also Rises

AEW Dynamite saw an increase in viewership on May 1.

According to Wrestlenomics, 703,000 viewers watched the show on Wednesday night, drawing a 0.24 rating in the 18 to 49 demographic. The viewership is up from last week’s episode, when 683,000 viewers tuned in. The demo also rose from last week‘s episode, which drew a 0.23 rating in the same demographic.

Dynamite saw an increase in numbers this week despite stiff competition last night going head-to-head with two NBA Playoff games on TNT and two NHL Playoff games on ESPN.

What happened on AEW Dynamite this week?

This week’s show kicked off with The Young Bucks taking away Tony Khan’s remote ability to control Dynamite from Jacksonville.

AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland continued to speak out against The Elite and was introduced to his Double or Nothing opponent, a returning Christian Cage.

Serena Deeb defeated Mariah May when Toni Storm threw in the towel for her protege. Deeb now gets a title shot at Storm’s title at Double or Nothing.

The close of the show saw the return of Kenny Omega, who promised the audience he would return to action and overcome his battle with diverticulitis. He was confronted by Kazuchika Okada and then jumped by Jack Perry. Matthew and Nicholas Jackson got involved and left Omega lying to close the show.
