Sami Zayn Shares How Much It Means To Him To Compete In Saudi Arabia

This past weekend was the King and Queen of the Ring Premium Live Event. The event took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. One of the most talked about matches of the night was the Intercontinental Championship Triple Threat match. The current champion, Sami Zayn, successfully defended his title against Bronson Reed and Chad Gable.

Following the match, Sami Zayn was asked how he felt about wrestling as the champion in Saudi Arabia. Zayn shared that he is proud of representing all the people from the Middle East.

“Uhm… I don’t know. They asked me to talk a little bit about what this means to me. And it is really really hard to put into words. It really is. Proud is the only word that comes to mind. I don’t know man. This part of me… Cuz look, I understand that you know… I don’t necessarily present myself as Mr. Arab Man every day and like… I think a lot of people probably don’t even know that I am Arab. Or that I’m Muslim. I realize it. Because it’s not something that I necessarily… It doesn’t seem like a central part of my character.

“But the truth is, it’s the central part of who I am. And when you come to this part of the world, there’s just a piece of me that feels whole in a way that I don’t even know is missing until I get here. And to be able to come here as the Intercontinental Champion and represent my people, represent all the people of the Middle East. As a champion, I can’t tell you how proud that makes me. I guess that’s all I got for you,” Sami Zayn said.
