AJ Mendez Credits ‘Sacramento’ For Bringing Her Back To Twitter

AJ Mendez has a good reason for her return to Twitter.

Mendez (AJ Lee) returned to Twitter on Tuesday afternoon. The former WWE Superstar announced she was ending her hiatus to promote the world premiere of Sacramento, a new film she appears in.

“Tribeca Film Festival world premiere of Sacramento got me to reinstall this app,” AJ wrote on Twitter. “How have you been???”

Sacramento is a new comedy film about two friends who take a spur-of-the-moment road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. The film was directed by Michael Angarano, who also stars in and co-wrote the screenplay with Chris Smith. Michael Cera, Kristen Stewart and Maya Erskine are also credited as part of the cast.

What has AJ Mendez been up to?

Sacramento is AJ Mendez’s first on-screen acting credit since she appeared in season two of Heels as “Elle Dorado.”

Mendez has not wrestled since 2015. In her time away from the ring, she has written several books, including her autobiography, Crazy Is My Superpower: How I Triumphed by Breaking Bones, Breaking Hearts, and Breaking the Rules.

She also co-wrote the GLOW vs. The Babyface miniseries for IDW with Aimee Garcia, who she teamed with to write 2022’s Blade of the 47 Ronin. More recently, AJ also spent time as an executive producer for WOW: Women Of Wrestling, but her contract expired in 2023.
