Yuya Uemura is set to miss six months of action due to an injury sustained in the G1 Climax 34 tournament.
The Japanese star suffered an arm injury during the G1 Climax this year. After picking up wins over David Finlay, Konosuke Takeshita and Hirooki Goto, he was forced to retire from the competition after a victory over Yota Tsuji.
The Just Five Guys member had to drop out of the G1 Climax 34 due to a torn tricep. The extent of the injury was unknown until NJPW announced the devastating news on their website.
The company revealed that Yuya Uemura will miss the next six months due to his arm injury. This means that he will miss Wrestle Kingdom next year, as well as a host of other events. This includes the upcoming Wrestle Dynasty show, which features a crossover with AEW and CMLL talents.
Yuya Uemura told New Japan Pro Wrestling following his injury that he wants to wrestle. However, it will take some time for his recovery.
He added that he is doing all he can do come back, and will be hotter than ever when he finally makes his comeback.
“I want to wrestle so badly right now. But I have some way to go in my daily life let alone in the ring.” Yuya Uemura said. “What I want is to fire up all of Japan with pro-wrestling, and to be the strongest there is. That will take some time, but I’m going to do what it takes to heal up and get there.”
“I’ll be doing all I can over this time to rest up and be even hotter when I come back. The Heat Storm will fire up your heart!”
If the six-month date touted is accurate, we can expect to see Yuya Uemura back in the ring around March in 2025.
