Cody Rhodes looks back on the challenging stretch that came after he won the Undisputed WWE Championship at WWE WrestleMania 40.
Rhodes beat Roman Reigns to win the title at WWE WrestleMania 40. The company then entered a period of transition, as Reigns took some time away from WWE, and The Rock wrapped up his return run. Meanwhile, Seth Rollins and Rhea Ripley were both sidelined with injuries.
In a recent interview with Raj Prashad of Uproxx Sports, Rhodes reflected on this challenging period.
“Roman is going away, Seth Rollins, who is such a huge part of WWE, is going away. Rhea Ripley, unfortunately, is injured,” Cody Rhodes said. “The Rock is saying goodbye for however long all of that was happening. Leaving me. I’m the type that I’m up for the challenge. Give me the challenge. But also in the back of my mind, I’m thinking, I hope it’s okay. I hope I can deliver.”
Cody Rhodes passed the test with flying colors, as WWE continued to break records and sell out shows heading into the summer.
“The American Nightmare” continues to reign supreme heading into WWE Survivor Series. He is coming off a win at WWE Bad Blood, where he and Roman Reigns beat The Bloodline. The Rock returned and stared them down at the end of the show. Plus, Kevin Owens turned on Rhodes and attacked him in the parking lot.
