Emily Bett Rickards Shares Her ‘Body Goals’ Inspiration for Getting in Shape for Queen of the Ring

Emily Bett Rickards had a great inspiration for getting into shape to play Mildred Burke.

Queen of the Ring is one of the most talked-about films based on professional wrestling. The film revolves around the professional wrestling legend Mildred Burke, played by Rickards. Recently, while speaking on the Inside of You with Michael Rosenbaum podcast, Emily Bett Rickards shared that Michael B. Jordan was one of the inspirations for her to get in shape for her role in the Queen of the Ring.

“My partner’s an Ultra Runner. Whole family is runners, right? So, when there’s someone running in movies, he goes, ‘They’re not a runner.’ And you can tell. And I’m like, ‘You are right. They don’t run.’ But there’s a lot of like… We talk you know… In TV especially like the… Our hero is having a bad day. So, they go for a run. Like, ‘They don’t run.’ They don’t run… You know…”

“I love running. I had to cut running out for this, which was a little difficult for my mindset. Because I think if you run, it’s really it’s not so much about for a cardio burn. It’s really for your mind. And that’s where meditation came in. But you know, Michael B. Jordan in Creed was my body goals. I don’t know the guy. But I was just like, ‘That’s my body goals. Look at this guy! He’s ripped.’ So, just my inspiration,” Emily Bett Rickards said.

Rosenbaum jokingly asked how much steroids she took, but she said she took creatine for the role and said the supplement gets a bad rap. Her focus was to bulk up and stay healthy.

Jordan got in incredible shape for his role as Adonis Creed in the Creed trilogy, a spinoff of the Rocky franchise. Jordan made headlines for his ripped physique, which was the result of working with celebrity trainer Corey Calliet. For Creed II, Jordan trained for four months prior to the start of filming, then continued to work out while filming for four to nine hours a day.
