Recently there had been a lawsuit filed by five unnamed Ring Boys claiming to have been sexually abused by WWE authorities back in the early 1980s. This lawsuit was filed after Maryland passed the Child Victims Act of 2023. Now, Former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon, his wife Linda McMahon, and WWE have all filed motions to dismiss the lawsuit.
Brand Thurston of POST Wrestling has reported that Vince McMahon, Linda McMahon, and WWE have filed motions to dismiss the claims.
WWE’s filing mentions that the party filing the lawsuit is only trying to take advantage of the Maryland Judiciary system, even though they are not originally from Maryland.
“Plaintiffs appear to have selected Maryland as their forum of choice in an attempt to benefit from the recently enacted Maryland Child Victims Act of 2023. But the Plaintiffs’ claims do not belong there.”
Vince McMahon’s attorney also stated the same.
“Five unnamed adults—none of whom are from Maryland—have come to this jurisdiction pleading decades-old allegations from the 1980s in an attempt to capitalize on the recent Maryland Child Victims Act [MCVA] of 2023. The Complaint attempts to manufacture such knowledge by spouting a broad catalog of negative press, unfounded opinions, speculation, and multi-level hearsay from a hodgepodge of characters (many of whom are deceased).”
Linda McMahon’s attorney stated, “What stands out from the Complaint, however, is that it lacks: any basis for personal jurisdiction over Defendants in Maryland, and any plausible claim for relief.” [H/T POST Wrestling]
McMahon also stated that she had no knowledge of the allegations against her or anyone else mentioned in the complaint until the lawsuit was filed. She also mentioned that Phillips, was an employee hired by WWE and she never supervised him.
