Triple H and Nick Khan pull back the curtain on Travis Scott’s slap to Cody Rhodes.
At WWE Elimination Chamber, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes took a major beating from a newly-turned heel John Cena and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. At one point, Rhodes also received a powerful slam from rapper Travis Scott, which reportedly resulted in a busted eardrum and black eye.
During an appearance on The Ankler Podcast, WWE President Nick Khan and WWE Chief Content Officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque revealed Scott’s explanation for the magnitude of the slap.
“(Triple H) did tell Travis after, like, ‘Hey, you know, that was a pretty hard slap. We’ll show you how to pull your punches a little bit,'” Khan recalled (H/T to WrestleTalk for the transcription). “Travis said, ‘Dwayne Johnson told me you better slap the s**t out of him, or people are gonna think that you don’t have it. So I just did that’ and (Triple H) chuckled and I chuckled.”
Regarding Cody Rhodes’ response to Scott’s slap, Triple H said “It was incredible. Ironically, the only person that didn’t complain about the slap was Cody Rhodes, he just wanted it to look good and like I said, Travis is like a kid in a candy store in that thing.”
According to Rhodes himself, Scott’s slap didn’t leave him mad, but it may have enticed him to deliver a receipt to the rapper in a future encounter. So far, Scott has not appeared on WWE programming again since Elimination Chamber, but with WrestleMania 41 coming up, it cannot be ruled out.
