AND NEW — Dominik Mysterio is your new Intercontinental Champion!
Mysterio won a four-way match at WWE WrestleMania 41 against (now-former) champion Bron Breakker, Penta and Finn Balor. Mysterio won the match despite friction with Balor, his Judgment Day cohort. Balor looked to have the win locked up after hitting Bron Breakker with the Coupe de Grace, but Dominik hit a frog splash from the opposite corner and made the cover.
Dominik celebrated his win and posed on the turnbuckles before heading up the ramp to cheers. He ultimately ran back down the ramp and jumped on the turnbuckles, celebrating his win to an even louder ovation.
This is Dominik Mysterio’s first reign as WWE Intercontinental Champion. He was also a former WWE Tag Team Champion, as well as a two-time NXT North American Champion. Bron Breakker’s second Intercontinental Championship reign ends at 181 days.

How did Rey Mysterio feel about Dominik winning the Intercontinental title?
WrestleZone Managing Editor Bill Pritchard spoke with Dominik’s father, Rey Mysterio, on the red carpet at WWE and Medium Rare’s WrestleMania After Dark party. Mysterio shared what it would mean to see Dominik win the Intercontinental title, the same title he held twice.
“Oh my God! That title is very historic. Some of the biggest legends of this industry have held that title prior to holding on a world title,” Rey Mysterio explained. “As a father, that would give me the biggest sense of pride to be able to see him as IC Champion. You have no idea.”
Despite being proud of Dominik as a father, he had a different opinion as a father competitor. Read Rey Mysterio’s full statement here.
Rey Mysterio was pulled from his WrestleMania 41 match with El Grande Americano due to injury. Rey confirmed the specific injury during a panel appearance at WWE World on Sunday.
