Disney and wrestling fans are getting the best of both worlds.
This fall, film festivals will unveil a new dark, comedic short film with a cast of figures from professional wrestling, Disney, and journalism. The film, titled Worst Man, follows the story of a man on the verge of a divorce finalization. Set in the afternoon of it, the man’s two best men then aim to uplift his spirits, only for their plans to go off the rails.
“It’s the kind of humor and heart that I grew up loving on shows like Fresh Prince and Boy Meets World,” said former journalist Brandon Arroyo, who serves as the film’s writer and director, in a press release. “We want to give people something that feels fresh, something with heart, and something that features a strong brotherhood of friends.”
Joining Arroyo in this project is former TNA World Champion James Storm, four-time Emmy award-winning host and wrestling podcaster Chris Van Vliet, and Disney Channel alum Jason Earles, who many may remember as Jackson Stewart on Hannah Montana.
“There probably isn’t a person alive who would have predicted this exact group of amazing talent would meld together as a comedic ensemble, yet that’s exactly what I believe we’ve found.” Arroyo said.
Production for the Worst Man short film will start later this month in Los Angeles. According to Arroyo, it could expand into a full series or feature film in the future.
“I think this has real potential to become a series or a feature,” he said. “Right now, we’re focused on making the best short film possible, reaching the full potential of these amazing artists.
