Samoa Joe On If We’ll Ever Hear His Voice Work As Sweet Tooth In Twisted Metal

While Will Arnett voices the Sweet Tooth character in post for Twisted Metal, Samoa Joe does all of the character’s lines on camera. But will we ever get to hear it?

All Elite Wrestling‘s Samoa Joe recently sat down with WrestleZone Senior Editor Matt Black. When asked if he’s heard any rumblings regarding a new Twisted Metal game due to the popularity of the show, Joe admits he’s heard rumblings but isn’t sure how substantial they are.

“Ahh… rumblings, yes. How substantial those are, I don’t know,” Samoa Joe said. “I know at one time there was a studio tapped [to make a new game] and that studio is no longer part of the Sony family. So yeah, I don’t have any solid answers for you. But I will say your sentiment is echoed by many people and many game players.

“Me being a game player myself, I wouldn’t mind seeing a new Twisted Metal. So let’s just hope a lot of positive requests in that direction might make that materialize. I could see it being something [good], because obviously the show’s a lot of fun. I think a lot of people are going to enjoy it. What better way to celebrate the show than with an equally awesome video game?” [laughs]

Collaborating with Will Arnett

When asked if he’s had any interactions or feedback with Will Arnett, who does the voiceovers for Sweet Tooth, Joe said they got together to discuss things at the beginning of production.

“Mainly, me and Will got together at the beginning of production. We [went] over what we wanted the tone of the character to be, the expectation,” Samoa Joe said. “Me personally, just listening to Will, just understanding his cadence and how much time he likes to inhabit on a line of dialogue, I try to leave him that same amount of space when it comes time for him to dub over.

“Yeah, collaborating with Will, getting the tone and getting the temperature right of the character, and then sending him the best takes we can for him to choose from to produce the Sweet Tooth you see on screen. It’s a collaborative process; it’s got a lot of steps. But it’s managed to be pretty seamless and without any big complications. It’s been pretty smooth. He’s enjoyed my work, I’ve enjoyed his, and hopefully, that will continue for seasons to come.”

The Twisted Metal: Samoa Joe cut?

When asked if he thinks Peacock would ever release an alternate cut with his voice instead, Joe admitted he didn’t know, but believes if he needs an ego trip, he can step into the ring and get it there instead.

“I don’t have the foggiest [idea],” Samoa Joe admitted. “I don’t. But I will say this — the cast and crew have always been super supportive and awesome, but I am a firm believer we’ve created something awesome that fans enjoy. I’m not one to go and change the recipe for an ego trip. If I need to feel good about myself, I can walk into any arena in America and get people to chant my name. I feel a little bit better, and it’s not that bad, so I don’t mind sharing the billing with Mr. Arnett.”
