Triple H hinted that John Cena wanted to face Brock Lesnar as part of his WWE farewell tour.
During the WWE SummerSlam post-show press conference, Triple H spoke about John Cena’s final run in WWE. When asked if they had discussed ideal opponents for Cena’s farewell tour, especially names like Brock Lesnar, following Lesnar’s attack on Cena at the end of WWE SummerSlam 2025.
The Game said, “Yeah. I mean, I think as you’re doing this when you come in you know you have a finite number of dates on John Cena. You want to know what the finite number of big matches, big moments, and incredible things are that you want to do. And you want to get to the majority of them. You can’t get to every single one of them. You can’t get to everything.”
He described Cena’s farewell run as something Cena is personally shaping, “But as I said in the beginning, for me, this is John Cena’s wishlist, John Cena’s it’s him writing the last chapter of his book. And I think people saw a conversation with us where he said we’d have to screw it up pretty badly to ruin his career.
“But it’s not about that for me. It’s about John being able to go out the way he wants to go out to write his chapter. I know what that’s like as a performer. I know what that’s like for everybody to feel that. And I think for John, to be able to do what he wants to do so it’s one of the very first things I said to him: Who do you want? Who do you want? And, you know, how? And we’re working through that.”
